Data Platform Engineering Team Leader - Remote

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Platform Engineering Team Leader to join our team at Euromonitor International. This remote position offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team of Data Platform Engineers, focusing on the implementation of data-centric business deliverables. As a Data Platform Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for data manipulation, building data systems, and creating data pipelines. This role combines technical expertise with management responsibilities, allowing you to contribute to data solution design while effectively communicating with the business.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor a team of Data Platform Engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Implement data solutions that meet business requirements, focusing on cost, performance, and security.
• Work closely with technology teams, data researchers, data analysts, and data scientists to ensure optimal data delivery architecture.
• Utilize Azure Cloud data services and Microsoft SQL Server to enhance data processing and integration.
• Monitor and support data services, ensuring they are operating at peak performance and addressing any critical issues that arise.
• Develop best practices and standards for data solutions, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
• Conduct training and coaching sessions to empower team members and enhance their skills in data manipulation and flow services.
• Create and maintain documentation to support business objectives and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in SQL (T-SQL) programming and data processing tools, particularly Azure Data Factory.
• Proficient in analytics platforms such as Azure Databricks and data warehousing tools like Azure Synapse.
• Strong knowledge of data storage and management systems, including RDBMS, NoSQL, JSON, and XML.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, preferably Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with writing infrastructure as code scripts (ARM Templates, Bicep, PowerShell, Bash).
• Certifications in Microsoft Azure Fundamentals and Data Engineering are highly desirable.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage projects using Agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.

Nice to Have

• A degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Additional certifications in data engineering or cloud platforms.
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or MS Fabric.
