Data Engineer - Remote Position at Mento

About the Role

We're hiring a Data Engineer to join our innovative team at Mento. This Data Engineer remote position is a unique opportunity to build the data infrastructure that powers insights and features across our coaching platform. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll collaborate closely with product, engineering, coaching, and leadership teams to create impactful data solutions.

What You'll Do

• Build data pipelines for coaching and user analytics, processing coaching session data and user interactions.
• Create data systems that power product features, ensuring reliable delivery of user progress tracking and coaching insights.
• Establish our data infrastructure and architecture, making key decisions about our data stack and implementing tools for orchestration and analytics.
• Process and analyze AI/LLM outputs, building pipelines to track coaching quality and user interactions with AI coaches.
• Support business operations and analytics by building systems that track customer success metrics and operational KPIs.
• Create accessible analytics infrastructure for non-technical stakeholders through dashboards and self-service analytics tools.
• Collaborate with product teams on instrumentation and data collection, ensuring we collect the right data for product development.

Requirements

• Mid to senior-level experience as a Data Engineer remote, with strong fundamentals in SQL and Python.
• Experience building data pipelines and data models, with knowledge of ETL/ELT patterns.
• Familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL and experience with data infrastructure tools.
• Ability to drive technical decisions about data infrastructure and assess the right stack for early-stage companies.
• Comfortable working with diverse data sources, including operational databases and event streams.
• Experience building both analytical and operational data pipelines that feed data back into products.
• Some experience with AI/ML data and understanding of the challenges of working with AI-generated content.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Go programming language.
• Familiarity with Ruby as part of the backend stack.
• Experience with building production data services.
