Cyber Counterintelligence Officer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

Step into a mission where cyber expertise meets national security as a Cyber Counterintelligence Officer remote. The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence is seeking a Cyber Counterintelligence Officer to provide technical expertise in all aspects of counterintelligence investigations and operations for the Los Alamos National Laboratory. This role is crucial in safeguarding critical national capabilities and outpacing evolving global threats.

What You'll Do

• Conduct cyber counterintelligence activities to protect DOE information, personnel, and assets from foreign intelligence entities and terrorist threats.
• Support Cyber CI and Counterterrorism investigations by providing technical expertise and investigative strategies.
• Review classified and unclassified reporting, correlate with local and Cyber Intelligence Center data, and identify indicators of foreign targeting or activity.
• Help develop and apply cyber tools and best practices to strengthen the counterintelligence mission.
• Analyze classified and unclassified information technology systems to identify vulnerabilities and intrusion indicators of CI concern.
• Collaborate and share information with LANL cyber security teams and interagency partners.
• Draft and contribute to intelligence reports; coordinate cyber intelligence reporting with LANL CSIRT and the Cyber Intelligence Center.
• Collect, triage, and conduct forensic examinations of digital media in accordance with forensic best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical field and a minimum of 8 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
• Advanced experience in conducting cyber and counterintelligence investigations with specific experience in the collection, analysis, evaluation, and dissemination of CI-cyber information.
• Advanced technical knowledge of classic and contemporary cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
• Demonstrated experience with network system forensics, packet capture analysis, and enterprise-level incident response.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux workstation/server management.

Nice to Have

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
• Experience with mobile communication systems and technologies, particularly those relating to forensics analysis.
• Knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (ICS)/Human Machine Interface (HMI) vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques.
• Familiarity with cloud-based environments including VMware, AWS, Azure, and Office 365.
