Compliance Officer & MLRO - Remote Role for Brazil

About the Role

We are looking for a Compliance Officer & MLRO remote to join our team at Kraken. This position is crucial as you will be responsible for leading the compliance and financial crime program for Payward Brasil. As a remote Compliance Officer & MLRO, you will have the opportunity to work from anywhere in Brazil while ensuring that our operations meet local regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

• Own and continuously improve Payward Brasil’s AML/CTF/CPF and sanctions compliance framework, ensuring it meets local requirements and Kraken group standards.
• Oversee the Brazil customer lifecycle controls including onboarding, CDD/EDD, ongoing monitoring, and remediation programs.
• Act as the designated MLRO, managing internal escalations and ensuring accurate reporting to COAF.
• Provide compliance sign-off/advice on Brazil go-to-market strategies and product changes.
• Deliver training and targeted communications for Brazil operations to ensure staff understand their compliance responsibilities.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in AML/CTF/financial crime compliance within a regulated financial institution or crypto environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Brazil AML/CTF expectations, including Law 9,613 and BCB Circular 3,978.
• Fluent in Portuguese and proficient in English for regulatory engagement.
• Hands-on experience with suspicious activity investigations and STR governance.
• Proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational controls.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience establishing a compliance program for a new regulated entity in Brazil.
• Familiarity with exchange/brokerage products and transaction monitoring systems.
• Experience with large-scale remediation or migration programs.
