Automation Mechanical Designer - Remote Opportunities
About the Role
We are looking for an Automation Mechanical Designer to join our innovative team at DISHER. As an Automation Mechanical Designer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes and improving product quality.
What You'll Do
- Lead, support, implement, and manage automation projects, ensuring efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with various assembly plants and integrators to develop systems and complete projects.
- Provide machine, mechanism, and tooling design, creating detailed drawings with minimal supervision.
- Prepare comprehensive drawing packages for manufacturing and assembly, adhering to customer requirements and drafting standards.
- Work closely with Automation Controls engineers to design integration solutions and select pneumatic components.
- Utilize SolidWorks and DaftSight to develop equipment and mechanism designs that meet specifications.
- Develop predictive maintenance indicators to enhance reliability and minimize downtime.
- Mentor junior design staff and contribute to the development of design methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in machine design within an automation or machine build environment.
- Proven ability to lead projects and serve as a subject matter expert.
- Strong skills in drawing creation for assemblies, weldments, and detailed documentation.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% to customer sites for design capture and installation assistance.
Nice to Have
- Experience with automation cell concepts and design of EOATs (End of Arm Tooling).
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in mechanical design.
- Previous experience mentoring less experienced staff.
