Associate General Counsel - Commercial Remote

About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Associate General Counsel - Commercial remote to join our dynamic team at Flex, a growth-stage FinTech company based in New York City. This role is pivotal in shaping the legal architecture of our go-to-market initiatives, including the commercialization of new product launches and channel partnerships. As an Associate General Counsel, you will not only execute legal strategies but also define the roadmap for how our legal function operates at scale. This is an exciting opportunity to influence company-level decisions and drive outcomes that extend well beyond the legal department.

What You'll Do

• Own the legal strategy for Flex’s most critical go-to-market initiatives including financial institution program agreements and new product launches.
• Lead AI-powered contracting as both a practitioner and governance owner, designing and improving AI-assisted workflows.
• Represent Legal in cross-functional AI working groups, translating Legal’s risk tolerances into company-wide AI policy.
• Define and own the commercial legal technology roadmap, evaluating and overseeing CLM platforms and legal analytics systems.
• Partner with senior leadership across Revenue, Finance, and Product to provide proactive legal counsel, identifying and resolving legal risks before they escalate.
• Set and own the commercial contracting playbooks ensuring consistency and alignment with Flex’s regulatory obligations.
• Lead cross-functional strategic projects, coordinating internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
• Monitor the evolving legal landscape in fintech regulation and translate developments into actionable guidance for the business.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in commercial transactions and corporate matters, preferably in a top-tier law firm and in-house legal department.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex financial institution partnerships and program agreements.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered legal tools and governance frameworks.
• Background in fintech, payments, or consumer lending is a strong plus.
• A JD from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with a US state bar.
