Android Developer - Mobile-to-STB Integration

About the Role

We are looking for an Android Developer (Mobile-to-STB Integration) to join our innovative team at Big Blue Marble Media. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while contributing to advanced video streaming solutions used by millions worldwide. As an Android Developer, you will be integral in enhancing our platform that delivers live TV, movies, and VOD across various devices.

What You'll Do

• Build and improve our STB apps, shipping features that enhance performance and stability.
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, design, and QA teams to ensure solid releases, with mobile involvement from day one.
• Own mobile-to-STB integration, focusing on pairing, discovery, connectivity, device communication, remote control, and content handoff.
• Participate in code reviews and provide clear, practical feedback to maintain high-quality standards.
• Write clean, testable code, improve existing modules, and implement automation where beneficial.
• Contribute to the growth of our Mobile Chapter by sharing knowledge, mentoring, and shaping standards and tooling.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of commercial experience with Android and Kotlin.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Familiarity with ORM (e.g., Room).
• Strong analytical thinking skills and a willingness to learn.
• Communicative English skills (minimum B2).
• A commitment to openness and a positive attitude.

Nice to Have

• Experience with media encoding/decoding.
• Familiarity with Jetpack Compose and Hilt.
