UX Designer - In-Car Experience for Autonomous Vehicles

Waymo is seeking a talented UX Designer - In-Car Experience to join our innovative team. As a remote UX Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the in-car experience for our autonomous vehicles, ensuring that our technology is not only functional but also delightful for users. With your expertise, you will help define the future of mobility and contribute to our mission of making the world's most trusted driver.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with the Creative Lead, PM, Engineering, and User Research teams to craft the in-car experience.
• Design intuitive entertainment systems that rival the best home-hub and automotive infotainment interfaces.
• Engage in hands-on, iterative design cycles to build system-level UI and transitions.
• Develop prototypes and interactions that define the future of user experience in autonomous vehicles.
• Support internationalization and localization efforts to prepare our vehicle platform for global markets.

Requirements

• 3-7 years of professional product design experience, especially in complex, multi-form factor interactions.
• Experience with media/entertainment applications or platforms, including IoT and automotive infotainment.
• Strong communication skills to advocate for design decisions through storytelling and user-centered rationale.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AI, ML, and conversational interfaces.
• Passion for utilizing AI tools in the design process.
• Experience working on consumer-facing hardware/software.
