About the Role

We are seeking a Summer Associate to join Chartwell Law, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the legal field. As a Summer Associate, you will support attorneys with legal research, drafting briefs, and preparing for trials, while working remotely or on-site in St. Louis, Missouri. This role provides invaluable litigation experience and the chance to develop your legal skills in a collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

  • Assist attorneys in drafting correspondence to opposing counsel, clients, and courts.
  • Perform administrative litigation support, including file indexing and managing litigation databases.
  • Review and organize case files, exhibits, and document productions.
  • Prepare chronologies, case summaries, and timelines to support litigation strategy.
  • Observe depositions, hearings, mediations, and client meetings as opportunities arise.
  • Conduct factual investigations, reviewing contracts, medical records, and other case materials.
  • Support attorneys in preparing exhibit lists, witness files, and trial binders.
  • Compile and analyze discovery responses from opposing parties.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a 2nd year law student at an accredited law school.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, and citation formats.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor and attention to detail.
