Staff Research Engineer - Code for AI Labs

We are seeking a Staff Research Engineer - Code remote to join our team at Turing. As a leader in AI research acceleration, Turing collaborates with top AI labs and enterprises to develop cutting-edge datasets and reinforcement learning environments. What You'll Do

• Lead the creation of datasets and RL environments focused on coding agents and software engineering for AI lab customers.
• Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards for realism, correctness, and diversity.
• Build and manage cross-functional teams of software engineers, researchers, and data creators from Turing’s extensive talent pool.
• Collaborate with researchers at frontier AI labs to understand their needs and co-define success criteria for projects.
• Drive research and industry thought leadership by publishing findings and insights on Turing’s data products.
• Oversee the development of internal tools to enhance data generation and verification processes.

Requirements

• Post-training experience on software engineering tasks or experience building coding agents.
• Engineering management experience, including leading teams and setting up QA processes.
• Hands-on technical capability with fluency in Python and proficiency in one or more major languages (C++, Java, Go, Rust, or JS).
• Proven ability to manage complex data pipelines and multi-stakeholder projects.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills to interface with researchers and diverse teams.

Nice to Have

• Background in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
• Experience in publishing research papers or technical posts.
• Familiarity with automated data scraping and verification tools.
