Service Team Member - Maintenance Technician (Railway)

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Service Team Member to join our team at West Midlands Trains. This Service Team Member remote position is crucial for maintaining the safety and reliability of our train services. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification of our rolling stock, ensuring that we meet the high standards expected by our customers. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work independently or as part of a team, contributing to the operational excellence of London Northwestern & West Midlands Railways.

What You'll Do

• Perform servicing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification of traction and rolling stock.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to laid down specifications.
• Ensure compliance with local, company, and industry safety procedures and regulations.
• Attend to in-service failures and undertake the duties of Designated Person as required.
• Complete accurate work records and compile technical reports related to work carried out.
• Assist in maintaining clean and safe work areas, ensuring good housekeeping practices.
• Drive company road vehicles as required in the execution of duties.
• Make recommendations for improvements to technical documentation and work practices.

Requirements

• Completed appropriate apprenticeship or hold relevant qualifications in electrical/mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of WM Trains Ltd maintained rolling stock.
• Road Vehicle driving license and authority to drive Railway Service vehicles.
• Emergency First Aid certification.
• PTS / Designated Person trained.
• PC / IT literate with job-specific training provided.
• AP (Appointed Person) trained.

Nice to Have

• Specific skills such as Lathe Operator, Welder, or Carriage repairer/painter.
