Senior Validation Engineer - Electrical and Electromechanical Products
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Validation Engineer to join our team and lead the design, development, and execution of automated test systems for complex electrical and electromechanical products. This is a full-time position based in Rockford, IL, and the company is willing to sponsor relocation! As a Senior Validation Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust and efficient validation processes.
What You'll Do
- Architect, develop, and maintain automated test systems using LabVIEW for electrical and electromechanical product validation.
- Design and implement NI PXI-based test platforms, including hardware integration, signal conditioning, and data acquisition.
- Translate electrical and system-level requirements into automated test plans, scripts, and validation protocols.
- Develop reusable LabVIEW frameworks and test modules to support scalable automation.
- Create and execute validation and verification plans for systems involving motors, power electronics, and embedded controls.
- Design and build test fixtures and automation solutions to improve test repeatability and efficiency.
- Support testing of connected products, including interfaces, communications, and system integration.
- Partner with engineering teams on failure analysis, root cause investigations, and design improvements.
- Ensure validation activities meet regulatory and compliance requirements (EFT, HiPot, EMC, conducted/radiated emissions).
- Document test architectures, procedures, results, and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians on automation best practices (as applicable).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in test automation, validation, or verification engineering.
- Advanced LabVIEW development experience; Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience designing and supporting NI PXI-based test systems.
- Strong background in electrical system testing, data acquisition, and automated validation.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, specifications, and system requirements.
- Experience validating systems with motors, power electronics, and embedded controls.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance testing requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Nice to Have
- Appliance, industrial equipment, or electro-mechanical product background.
- Experience with TestStand or other test management frameworks.
- Exposure to Python or other scripting languages supporting automation.
- Experience with environmental or stress testing (thermal, vibration).
- Familiarity with product development life cycles (V-model, Agile, Waterfall).
