Senior UX Designer - Remote Payments Platform

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to join mx51, a leading payments-as-a-service solution provider. This remote role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of payment experiences for merchants. As a Senior UX Designer, you will be at the forefront of designing intuitive and elegant solutions that address complex payment challenges. Your work will directly impact how merchants accept payments across various platforms, including in-store, in-app, and online.

What You'll Do

• Lead UX design initiatives across key product areas, ensuring a balance between user needs and business objectives.
• Plan and conduct comprehensive research and discovery initiatives, synthesizing insights into actionable design recommendations, wireframes, and prototypes.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, engineers, and external stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle to deliver exceptional user experiences.
• Contribute to and maintain our design system, introducing scalable and accessible components that enhance usability.
• Effectively communicate design decisions, connecting concepts to product goals for diverse audiences.
• Manage your workload across multiple projects, meeting milestones and keeping stakeholders informed of progress.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in UX/product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design processes.
• Experience designing for complex, multi-platform products (mobile and web).
• Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with design system principles.
• Good to have: Background in fintech, payments, POS, banking, or merchant-facing financial services.
• Familiarity with Material Design, accessibility best practices, and mobile-first design principles.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of presenting design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in Agile/Lean environments, ideally within a startup.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing (e.g., Askable, Dovetail, Maze).

Nice to Have

• Experience designing for payment terminals or embedded/hardware-constrained interfaces.
