Senior Telecommunications Network Engineer - Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our team. This remote position involves designing, administering, and maintaining multiple data, voice, and video telecommunication networks, systems, and software. You will be a seasoned professional, capable of solving a diverse range of complex problems within your function.
What You'll Do
- Manage the implementation of IT technology initiatives and provide formal project management documentation.
- Conduct systems analyses and research to develop integration plans for new systems and software, ensuring compatibility with the existing IT infrastructure.
- Build new networks according to design specifications and ensure all systems meet or exceed business and security requirements.
- Mentor junior staff on work assignments to maintain project schedules and prepare technical documentation.
- Administer and maintain classified and unclassified networks and telecommunication systems to ensure optimum performance and security.
- Maintain technical proficiency in new IT technologies and keep abreast of industry trends.
- Communicate all network and system problems immediately to supervisors and respond to critical after-hours support issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with at least six years of experience in Information Technology, including four years in network administration.
- Advanced knowledge in IP-based network and telecommunication system design, administration, and support, preferably with Cisco technologies.
- Experience with Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Cisco ISE, and ASAs is required.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with low to moderate supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of employees.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, Word, and Excel.
- Project management experience is desired.
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances.
Nice to Have
- Experience with InfoBlox, SonicWall, and SDWAN.
- Familiarity with Call Manager, Unity Connection, and IP telephony.
- Project management certification.
