About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Systems Engineer (Rust) - Search Infrastructure to join our innovative team in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role focuses on building a modern search platform, emphasizing search infrastructure and distributed systems. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our search capabilities, ensuring high performance and scalability.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement full-text and inverted index search systems.
• Develop vector and hybrid search infrastructure to improve search accuracy and efficiency.
• Address performance bottlenecks in distributed search systems at scale.
• Build core components using Rust, contributing to our primary codebase.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system correctness and performance.

Requirements

• Proven experience in search infrastructure, query execution, and indexing pipelines.
• Strong background in distributed systems, focusing on latency and throughput.
• Expertise in systems work where correctness and performance are critical.
• Senior-level experience preferred; exceptional individual contributors with deep expertise are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, 5 days a week.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Rust programming language.
• Familiarity with modern search technologies and methodologies.
• Research credibility in search infrastructure or distributed systems.
