Senior Software Engineer - Cloud SIEM Remote

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Cloud SIEM team at Sumo Logic. This Senior Software Engineer remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on our cutting-edge Cloud SIEM platform, which provides comprehensive security visibility and analytics for modern cloud and hybrid environments.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable cloud services for our Cloud SIEM platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features that enhance our security operations.
• Ensure optimal performance, quality, and responsiveness of services, identifying and correcting bottlenecks and fixing bugs.
• Participate in CI processes and provide on-call production support as needed.
• Maintain code quality, organization, and automation while participating in code reviews and providing constructive feedback to team members.
• Mentor junior engineers, helping them grow their technical skills and knowledge.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our products remain cutting-edge.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership.
• Experience with Scala (or another JVM language) and Kafka in production environments.
• Strong understanding of multi-threaded programming and globally distributed systems, preferably in AWS.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, solve problems, and adapt to new technologies.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices.
• Occasional on-call availability.

Nice to Have

• Experience building/maintaining production services in Python.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, etc.
• Knowledge of operating Kafka at scale.
• Experience running Apache Spark & Iceberg in production environments.
• Familiarity with the security space.
• Working experience with GitHub Actions or other CI pipelines.
• A GitHub account with recent activity and contributions to open source projects.
