Senior Security Engineer - Remote Role at True Zero Technologies

About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Senior Security Engineer to join our dynamic team at True Zero Technologies. As a Senior Security Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our business and client data, ensuring secure handling and compliance with industry standards. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely while collaborating with a team of passionate and innovative professionals.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure secure data gathering, processing, and management.
  • Analyze SQL statements and identify potential performance issues to optimize database operations.
  • Design secure network architectures and conduct penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Manage security tools such as SIEM and IDS/IPS, establishing security policies across the organization.
  • Work closely with DevOps, IT, and software teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Implement and uphold cloud data security technologies and best practices.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively through strong written and verbal skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 6 years of technical experience, or 4 years in IT Solutions at senior management level.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is mandatory, with ISSEP concentration preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • 10 years of successful enterprise experience in an IT or technology-related field, with the last 5 years on large government technical contracts.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to report progress and security concerns to the Head of Security Engineering.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with scripting/programming languages such as Python and Bash.
  • Familiarity with ITIL 4 Foundation principles.
  • Experience in a veteran-owned business or similar environment.
