Senior Project Manager - Remote from Anywhere in Colorado

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Senior Project Manager to join the Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT) team. This Senior Project Manager remote position allows you to lead the development and implementation of large, complex, multi-platform technology initiatives from anywhere in Colorado. Your role will involve taking projects from original concept to successful application, ensuring that we improve the lives of all Coloradans through innovation and collaboration.

What You'll Do

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identifying potential risks and devising contingency plans.
  • Develop new approaches and employ existing plans to create detailed work strategies, schedules, project estimates, and budget management.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals while recommending subsequent budget changes.
  • Determine and assess requests for additional staff and/or contractors, collaborating with outside service providers as needed.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams within OIT, customer organizations, and vendors.
  • Conduct post-mortem project assessments, suggesting process or procedure improvements.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members and contractors, influencing them to take positive action and accountability for assigned work.
  • Manage relationships across OIT, customers, and vendors, cultivating a thorough understanding of core business functions and alignment with business objectives.

Requirements

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in IT and IT project management for large, complex projects.
  • Experience leveraging tools such as Tableau or BI to make data-driven decisions.
  • Solid understanding of change management and ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in defining and executing large, complex technology programs.
  • Strong relationship-building and management skills, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

Nice to Have

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., Scrum, ITIL, PMP).
  • Agile and Scrum methodology experience.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and system implementation.
  • Strong quality and customer service orientation.
