About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineering Manager to join our remote team at TROOP. This Senior Platform Engineering Manager remote position offers an exciting opportunity to lead our platform and security engineering efforts while working from anywhere in Spain or South Africa, aligning with the CET time zone. At TROOP, we are on a mission to revolutionize meeting planning and group travel logistics, creating a platform that enhances the way teams connect and collaborate.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and mentor a team of Platform and Security Engineers, fostering a high-performance engineering culture focused on ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance while empowering the team to execute independently.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Leadership teams to align platform strategy with business goals.
  • Own and evolve our cloud infrastructure on GCP, driving adoption of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Lead the design, implementation, and scaling of Kubernetes (GKE) environments.
  • Champion GitOps practices using ArgoCD and Helm, and build reliable CI/CD pipelines using GitLab/GitHub.
  • Establish best practices for monitoring, logging, and alerting to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Embed security into every stage of the development lifecycle, coordinating security automation tools and leading SOC 2 Type II compliance efforts.

Requirements

  • Around 8 years of experience in Platform Engineering, including 3 years in leadership roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, GCP, ArgoCD, Helm, and CI/CD automation.
  • Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps, GitOps, and platform engineering principles.
  • Experience in security engineering and automation practices.
  • Solid understanding of compliance frameworks, especially SOC 2 Type II and GDPR.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
