Senior Gen AI Developer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

Orion Innovation is seeking a Senior Gen AI Developer to join our dynamic team. This remote position offers the opportunity to design and build cutting-edge agentic AI systems that leverage large language models (LLMs). As a Senior Gen AI Developer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming how AI interacts with enterprise systems, ensuring reliability and efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement agentic systems, including single-agent and multi-agent architectures.
• Build robust tool-using agents with functionalities like function calling, tool schemas, and sandboxing.
• Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and memory patterns to enhance AI performance.
• Develop workflow orchestration for agent execution, ensuring deterministic execution where feasible.
• Productionize GenAI services, focusing on APIs, background jobs, and performance optimization.
• Establish evaluation metrics for agent performance and implement safety measures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-ready solutions and mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute to architecture reviews and set coding standards.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on building LLM/GenAI systems in production.
• Proficiency in Python is required; experience with TypeScript/Node.js is a plus.
• Hands-on experience in developing agents that utilize tool calling, planning, and multi-step workflows.
• Solid understanding of prompting techniques and context management.
• Experience with RAG, including embeddings and vector databases.
• Proven ability to ship production services using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong instincts for data security and privacy management.

Nice to Have

• Experience with anomaly detection and prompt injection defenses.
• Familiarity with monitoring and incident response protocols.
• Knowledge of hybrid retrieval and re-ranking strategies.
