Senior Data Architect - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This Senior Data Architect remote position is crucial for supporting the delivery of key initiatives such as OneData Alberta and Crosswalk. You will leverage your expertise in data architecture to ensure the effective management and delivery of enterprise data assets.

What You'll Do

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of data frameworks, including Data Fabric and Data Mesh, to enhance data accessibility and usability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop enterprise data architecture, data quality frameworks, and metadata standards.
• Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to explain complex data principles and drive consensus on data strategies.
• Design and deliver scalable data products, including APIs and curated datasets, that support analytics and AI/ML use cases.
• Implement data security and privacy controls, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture, with a proven track record in defining technical architecture and data integration.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure and Snowflake.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF or Zachman.
• Experience in leading initiatives and facilitating workshops with senior management and technical teams.
• Proficient in designing architectures that support machine learning and advanced analytics, including MLOps and model monitoring.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Responsible AI principles and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience in the public sector or large-scale data projects.
• Knowledge of Big Data technologies and modern architectural paradigms.
