Research Engineer - R Data Analysis Tools Developer (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Research Engineer - R Data Analysis Tools Developer to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative environment. You will be part of a team dedicated to enhancing Earth data verification through innovative R packages.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate the development of R tools, providing support to users within a High-Performance Computing environment.
• Contribute to the deployment and installation of R packages in the shared department environment.
• Participate in the ongoing strategy for the development of Earth Sciences Department tools.
• Engage with climate and computer scientists to enhance software functionalities.
• Utilize your excellent R programming skills to manage large collaborative projects effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in R or a similar programming language.
• Familiarity with climate data formats such as GRIB and NetCDF.
• Experience with UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages (e.g., bash).
• Previous experience in HPC architecture and parallel programming is advantageous.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Git for version control.
• Ability to learn and adapt to multiple programming languages.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
