We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team at Blockworks, a leading information platform in the crypto industry. As a Senior Backend Engineer remote, you will play a crucial role in transforming complex data into actionable insights, enabling our users to make informed decisions. What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that can handle millions of requests per day.
• Implement and optimize APIs that power our research and media products, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Own database design and optimization, utilizing MySQL and PostgreSQL for data management.
• Lead the development of backend features from planning through to production release.
• Diagnose and resolve performance and scalability issues, ensuring smooth operation under real-world loads.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and data teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
• Raise the bar on testing, monitoring, and observability across the stack.
• Embrace experimentation and adapt to evolving challenges within a fast-paced startup environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer with a focus on backend development and architecture.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, with experience building reliable API endpoints.
• Strong skills in designing and optimizing relational databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
• Experience with caching mechanisms like Redis to enhance performance and scalability.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in fast-paced environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to writing clean, maintainable code.

Nice to Have

• Experience with frameworks like NestJS and database access layers such as TypeORM.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and exposure to ML/AI models.
• Hands-on experience in the crypto space.
