Student Assistant for Environmental Crime Research - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Student Assistant for Environmental Crime Research to join our team at Tilburg University. This position is ideal for students passionate about environmental issues and criminal law, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research while working remotely.

What You'll Do

• Assist Dr. Thomas Joyce in conducting research on environmental crime, focusing on small-scale offenses and their societal impacts.
• Support departmental staff with various research tasks, ensuring accurate and structured work.
• Engage in discussions about environmental protection and crime prevention strategies.
• Utilize digital tools such as Word, Excel, and Zoom for research documentation and communication.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for research development.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Law at Tilburg University.
• Interest in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or Criminal Law.
• Completed at least the first year of your Bachelor’s program (minimum 60 ECTS credits).
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently while recognizing when to seek guidance.
• Good organizational skills and a critical approach to handling sensitive information.
• Available for 8 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

Nice to Have

• Experience with research methodologies in social sciences.
• Familiarity with environmental law and policy.
• Proficiency in additional languages.

• Competitive salary of approximately €3,700 per month for full-time equivalent.
• Temporary contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
