Senior Backend Engineer - Go Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our fully remote team. In this Senior Backend Engineer remote position, you will focus on building and scaling high-performance data infrastructure. You will design and operate distributed systems that power large-scale applications, handling millions of queries per second across modern bare-metal environments. This role requires deep expertise in Go and large-scale backend systems. You will contribute to mission-critical services that operate across dense, high-capacity infrastructure, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability at extreme scale.

What You’ll Do

• Scale production Go services to support hundreds of millions of users.
• Design and build mission-critical data infrastructure powering API traffic.
• Architect systems capable of operating across tens of terabytes of RAM and thousands of CPU cores.
• Develop and maintain distributed backend services handling high query throughput.
• Optimize performance across storage layers, including high-capacity NVMe systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve reliability, observability, and system resilience.
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Continuously evaluate and improve infrastructure scalability and efficiency.

Requirements

• Strong foundational programming and software engineering skills.
• Extensive professional experience with Go (5+ years preferred).
• Experience building and operating scalable backend systems handling high throughput (1M+ operations per second).
• Deep understanding of operating systems, networking, and storage systems.
• Significant experience with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, or SQLite.
• Experience with distributed data stores such as Cassandra, Scylla, Redis, or ClickHouse.
• Experience working with search systems such as Elasticsearch.
• Ability to thrive in a small, fast-moving engineering team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Nice to Have

• Experience building infrastructure for large-scale social or consumer applications.
• Experience working in high-density bare-metal environments.
• Familiarity with protocol-driven or federated systems architectures.
