About the Role
We are seeking a Remote Software Engineer Backend Intern to join our innovative team at Astranis for the Summer of 2026. As a Software Engineer Intern, you'll design and build services that autonomously control satellites, monitor telemetry for anomalies, and provide real-time situational awareness to keep our fleet safe and online. This is a unique opportunity to work on mission-critical software that directly impacts satellite operations.
What You'll Do
- Design and build high-performance, reliable, mission-critical software used to send commands to space.
- Take full ownership of features, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Monitor telemetry data for anomalies and implement solutions to enhance system reliability.
- Develop core components and services that power our software organization, enabling teams to move faster and more reliably.
- Contribute to both commercial and US government programs, ensuring compliance with stringent requirements.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a four-year university program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with backend development technologies and programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Passion for aerospace technology and a desire to contribute to innovative satellite solutions.
- Available for a twelve-week internship during the Summer of 2026.
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) or containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of telemetry systems and satellite communications.
- Previous internship experience in software development or related fields.
