About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Lead Medical Writer to join our dynamic team at Avalere Health. As a Lead Medical Writer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare communications. Your expertise will help ensure that every patient receives the care they deserve. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute to impactful projects from anywhere in the world.

What You'll Do

  • Act as the lead writer and primary client contact for assigned accounts.
  • Develop high-quality content in collaboration with project teams, ensuring editorial excellence across all client programs.
  • Communicate effectively with editorial, client, vendor, and project teams to ensure timely project completion within budget.
  • Provide guidance and direction to junior writers, enhancing their skills and ensuring quality output.
  • Oversee large and complex projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
  • Support business development initiatives by conceptualizing new medical communications projects and publications.
  • Represent Avalere Health at client meetings and advisory boards, showcasing our commitment to excellence in medical communications.

Requirements

  • A degree in a scientific or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in medical or scientific writing, ideally within a healthcare consultancy or medical communications agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage various scientific content types and ensure accuracy and flow in publications.
  • Proven experience in project ownership and problem-solving within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong client communication skills and the ability to serve as a reliable point of contact.
  • Experience in mentoring junior writers and managing client relationships.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory guidelines for medical communications.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with digital health communications.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic areas relevant to our clients.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a medical writing team.
