Product Designer Intern - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are excited to announce an opening for a Product Designer Intern to join our team at Votely. This remote internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to civic engagement projects that impact tens of thousands of users. As a Product Designer Intern, you will work closely with our engineering and product teams to create intuitive user experiences that simplify complex civic concepts.

What You'll Do

  • Design key user flows from landing page to quiz to results to action.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
  • Enhance clarity and completion rates through effective information and interaction design.
  • Design new features for our Action Hub, including discovery, filtering, action details, and progress tracking.
  • Contribute to and help maintain our design system, including components, patterns, and tokens.
  • Conduct lightweight user research, including interviews and usability tests, and synthesize insights.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or possess equivalent self-taught experience.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing product thinking and interaction design skills.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, and prototyping.
  • Ability to articulate design decisions and engage in constructive feedback.
  • Understanding of accessibility principles and inclusive design.
  • Available for 10-12 weeks, working 40 hours per week.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing for mobile-first or responsive web experiences.
  • Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and how designs translate to code.
  • Experience with motion design or micro-interactions.
  • Background in user research methods.
