Principal DevOps Engineer - FinTech Infrastructure

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team remotely in Europe or with relocation to Barcelona. As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will lead the infrastructure direction for our payment processing holding, ensuring high-speed and secure payment processing. This role combines architectural design, team leadership, and hands-on engineering, making it an exciting opportunity for an expert in the field.

What You'll Do

• Design fault-tolerant architecture for payment processing, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum security.
• Lead a small team of 1-2 engineers, providing mentorship and conducting code reviews.
• Interact with the CTO and development teams to implement SRE practices and define SLI/SLO metrics.
• Write and maintain Terraform code as part of our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and releases via ArgoCD.
• Ensure PCI DSS compliance and maintain strict security standards across the infrastructure.
• Build high-quality monitoring and alerting systems to ensure observability and rapid incident response.
• Organize and test Disaster Recovery plans to ensure business continuity.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps/SRE, with proven leadership or mentorship experience.
• Deep knowledge of PCI DSS requirements and experience building compliant infrastructures.
• Expertise in AWS at a Solution Architect level, managing multi-account environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and Amazon ECS for orchestration.
• Proficient in writing maintainable Terraform code and managing complex modules.
• Fluent in English (B2 level) for effective communication with international partners.
• A mindset focused on cost (FinOps) and security (SecOps) during the design phase.

Nice to Have

• Experience with advanced observability tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
• Familiarity with security tools such as AWS WAF and Secrets Manager.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and execution.
