Principal Advisor UG Technology - Mining Automation

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Advisor UG Technology to join our team at Rio Tinto, focusing on the development and implementation of advanced technologies in underground mining. This role is crucial in shaping the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Technology Strategy, where you will lead efforts to establish capabilities in automation and advanced technology. You will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with a diverse team to enhance mining performance and safety.

What You'll Do

• Guide the creation and implementation of our underground remote and automated equipment strategy.
• Support and mentor cross-functional teams of engineers, analysts, and technology vendors.
• Establish partnerships that drive business value and pioneer technology solutions.
• Identify and scope potential projects, from initial concept to delivery.
• Solve complex problems by collaborating with operators and engineers.
• Develop the roadmap and culture required for successful technology integration.
• Build knowledge and expertise in remote and automated equipment within the UG Operations team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience managing stakeholders in a diverse organization.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Proven track record in leading complex technology projects.
• Familiarity with underground automated trucks, drones, AI/ML technologies.

• Experience in underground mining or construction projects.
• Understanding of technology product design and compliance processes.
