About the Role

We are looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer - Rust to join our innovative team at Kraken, a fully remote company dedicated to building the future of crypto. As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing robust Rust services and libraries that power trading, payments, and crypto experiences. What You'll Do

• Design and implement reliable Rust services that enhance trading and payment systems, ensuring high performance and user impact.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code that scales across teams and supports revenue-critical systems.
• Collaborate on large-scale distributed systems architecture, translating evolving product requirements into resilient, low-latency solutions.
• Work closely with cross-functional partners to co-create product requirements and ensure clear communication throughout the development process.
• Debug issues across the stack, including OS, network, and application layers, with a security-first mindset.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally building consumer-facing products.
• Proficiency in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust.
• Demonstrated commitment to a security-first mindset when designing systems.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies, including RPC protocols, Kafka, and Event Driven Systems.
• Ability to autonomously debug issues across the stack.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Knowledge of Go programming language.
• Familiarity with AI technologies.
