Mid-Associate - Energy, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Mid-Associate to join our Energy, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure (ENRI) team. This Mid-Associate remote position is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated Indonesian team at A&O Shearman, established in 2010. As a Mid-Associate remote, you will be at the forefront of Indonesia's energy transition sector, delivering first-class global project development and finance expertise.

What You'll Do

• Draft, review, and amend documentation related to energy, natural resources, and infrastructure projects.
• Engage with regulatory frameworks, identifying practical solutions to regulatory and permitting issues.
• Collaborate closely with partners and lawyers across jurisdictions to manage workstreams and ensure timely deliverables.
• Serve as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and consistent quality.
• Manage client expectations and project delivery appropriately.
• Lead and supervise junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Recognize opportunities for business development and assist with implementing strategies.
• Provide end-to-end transactional support on ENRI deals.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a corporate lawyer at a leading law firm, with exposure to project development/finance.
• Strong academic credentials and Indonesian bar qualification.
• Proven ability to lead and develop junior team members.
• Exceptional organizational skills and entrepreneurial drive.
• Clear understanding of law firm economics and strategic priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
