Member of Legal, Corporate & Commercial Counsel - Remote
About the Role
At Anchorage Digital, we are building the world’s most advanced digital asset platform for institutions to participate in crypto. We are currently seeking a Member of Legal, Corporate & Commercial Counsel to join our team remotely. In this role, you will help analyze our core products and services while providing counsel on data privacy and security requirements. This position is crucial as we navigate the fast-paced world of crypto, ensuring that our relationships and operations are protected and compliant.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary legal expert on data privacy and security issues, advising on compliance with regulations such as CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and emerging privacy laws.
- Design and implement a comprehensive data privacy and governance program, including policies and internal controls.
- Advise product, engineering, and marketing teams on privacy-by-design principles for new products and features.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
- Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-related terms in contracts, including Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and vendor agreements.
- Oversee legal requirements for managing individual rights requests, such as the right to know and right to delete.
- Work closely with various teams to embed privacy considerations into all aspects of the business.
- Lead the legal response to data security incidents, managing investigations and regulatory notifications.
Requirements
- J.D. degree with experience in corporate and commercial privacy law.
- 4+ years of legal practice, with at least 3 years focused on data privacy and security.
- Deep knowledge of major privacy frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.
- Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to build new products and solve complex legal issues.
- Enthusiasm for crypto and a foundational understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
Nice to Have
- Privacy certification such as CIPP/US or CIPP/E.
- Previous in-house legal experience at a technology company or regulated industry.
- Familiarity with cloud computing and data analytics.
