Medical Assistant - Outpatient Clinic
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team at the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute. This Medical Assistant remote position is essential in providing quality care and support to our patients in an outpatient clinic setting. You will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient operations, assisting physicians, and delivering excellent customer service.
What You'll Do
- Assist in patient examination and treatment by preparing patients for their appointments and ensuring timely escorting to exam rooms.
- Evaluate patient needs for wound care and provide necessary education and assistance during examinations.
- Coordinate referrals for ongoing services and act as a liaison between patients and physicians.
- Manage appointment scheduling and ensure that all necessary medical charts are prepared prior to patient visits.
- Respond to incoming phone calls and channel requests appropriately to ensure resolution of patient inquiries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and ensure all supplies are stocked and ready for use.
- Participate in learning new systems and keep abreast of current insurance and registration issues.
- Fulfill clerical responsibilities such as sending/receiving patient medical records and verifying insurance coverage.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (CMA) is preferred.
- CPR certification is required.
- Experience in an orthopedic healthcare setting is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in practice management and EHR software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with patients and staff.
- Ability to lift patients and perform physical tasks associated with patient care.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Google products.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to develop constructive working relationships with others.
