About the Role

We are seeking a Manager Engineering 2 to join our team at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division. This role focuses on nuclear propulsion systems and offers a unique opportunity to lead engineering initiatives in a critical sector. As a Manager Engineering 2 - Nuclear Propulsion Systems, you will oversee the Component Fabrication & Assembly (CFA) group, providing essential engineering support to various shop activities.

What You'll Do

• Lead a team of engineers in the fabrication, construction, and testing of new construction CVN propulsion plant mechanical systems.
• Drive work on multiple concurrent tasks while collaborating with various engineering disciplines.
• Provide clear direction to personnel to meet project schedules and resolve engineering/design/construction issues.
• Utilize your knowledge of CVN 78 propulsion plant systems to guide your team effectively.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design; or a Master's Degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand propulsion plant construction issues and lead a team to arrive at solutions.
• Experience working at a high level and managing multiple tasks concurrently.
