About the Role

We are looking for a Legal Intern, Privacy - Remote to join our innovative team at Proof. As the world's first identity-assured transaction management platform, we are on a mission to digitize trust for all of life’s most critical transactions. This Legal Intern, Privacy - Remote position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a legal tech startup while working fully remotely.

What You'll Do

  • Handle incoming privacy requests efficiently and escalate them when appropriate by involving subject matter experts.
  • Provide timely responses to consumers regarding their privacy inquiries.
  • Manage the privacy request process and develop process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Develop tracking, monitoring, and reporting/filtering systems for privacy requests.
  • Assist and coordinate with Privacy Counsel on various privacy initiatives, including data mapping and implementing privacy controls, audits, and monitoring.
  • Research and monitor state and federal laws as they relate to remote online notarizations and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers.
  • Partner with internal business units to meet legal requests and ensure compliance.
  • Review and revise current company policies to ensure they comply with legal standards.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in law school or possess an active law license.
  • Strong academic record with a focus on privacy and compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Precise attention to detail and a strong motivation to learn and grow.
  • Prior internship experience in a legal setting is a plus.
  • Exposure to the SaaS/tech industry is advantageous.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with privacy laws and regulations.
  • Experience in legal research.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
