Lead Data Engineer - ETL Platform
About the Role
We’re hiring a Lead Data Engineer to own our data platform and ETL strategy end to end. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will architect, build, and scale production systems. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will set standards, create playbooks, and help level up the data function as the company scales 5–10x over the next year. This Lead Data Engineer remote position offers real ownership from day one.
What You'll Do
- Own the design, evolution, and scaling of the data platform in production.
- Lead ETL / ELT strategy and execution end to end.
- Own orchestration using Dagster including asset design, partitioning, and operational best practices.
- Define core data models and metrics used by the business.
- Set engineering standards, establish SLOs, and build runbooks for critical datasets.
- Mentor other engineers and help grow the data engineering function over time.
- Build a clear roadmap for scaling ETL over the next 2–3 quarters.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in data engineering.
- Proven experience building and scaling data platforms in production.
- Strong ownership mindset and comfort operating with ambiguity.
- Experience with modern cloud data stacks.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Dagster, BigQuery, GCP, and Temporal.
- Experience with modern ETL pipelines.
