Lead Data Engineer - Building a Scalable Data Platform

About the Role

Ingenico is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join our team and help build a modern, scalable, and secure Data Platform that supports strategic decision-making and advanced analytics. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive the strategy, architecture, and execution of Ingenico’s Data Platform. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will lead a small but skilled team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts, ensuring the delivery of robust, reliable, and high-quality data foundations. You will collaborate with engineering, product, business, and compliance stakeholders to build a platform that is secure, scalable, and aligned with the needs of the company.

What You'll Do

• Define and execute the architecture of the Data Platform, including data ingestion, processing, storage, quality, and governance.
• Establish best practices for data modeling, data pipelines, documentation, and monitoring.
• Ensure platform scalability, reliability, and performance to support business intelligence and data products.
• Implement and enforce data governance, including data quality and access control.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts.
• Organize team workload, priorities, and delivery roadmap.
• Promote a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the design and implementation of ETL/ELT pipelines, batch and streaming processes.
• Partner with product and business teams to understand data needs and deliver high-value datasets.
• Work closely with cloud/platform teams to ensure alignment with infrastructure and security standards.
• Guarantee high availability, cost control, and strong operational practices.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all Data Platform topics.
• Communicate clearly about technical choices, data quality, and delivery timelines.

Requirements

• Strong experience in building and operating cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Solid background in data engineering: ETL/ELT, SQL, distributed processing (Spark).
• Experience with data modeling and proficiency with modern data stack tools (Databricks, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of data governance, quality, and security principles.
• Experience leading or mentoring data teams (engineering and/or analytics).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).

Nice to Have

• Experience building a Data Platform from scratch or re-architecting an existing one.
• Background in BI, DataOps, or MLOps.
