About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Cost Controller - Remote to join our innovative team at Fortescue. This role is pivotal in driving our green solutions initiatives, ensuring effective cost management and project controls. As a Lead Cost Controller - Remote, you will report directly to the Principal Project Controls and play a crucial role in shaping our cost management strategies.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project cost management systems to ensure consistent cost control and performance analysis.
  • Lead the project cost and progress reporting process, delivering accurate and timely reports.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and development for cost controllers, enhancing team capability.
  • Coordinate cost management activities within the broader Project Controls function.
  • Define and apply the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for consistency across systems.
  • Support contracting and procurement activities, including contract reviews and payment setups.
  • Manage month-end processes, including accruals and reconciliation across cost centres.
  • Forecast costs to complete, identify risks, and implement strategies to prevent budget overruns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in senior project controls roles within construction or renewable energy.
  • Proven capability in managing cost control frameworks for large-scale projects.
  • Strong experience in developing reporting methodologies across complex portfolios.
  • High proficiency with project cost control systems and advanced Excel skills.

Nice to Have

  • Project management or internationally recognized project controls certification.
  • Experience with Omega PIMS.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
