Global Events Manager - Remote Contract Position
About the Role
We are seeking a Global Events Manager to join our team at D2L. This remote position is a 16-month contract where you will play a pivotal role in transforming the way the world learns through impactful events. As a Global Events Manager, you will own the planning and execution of key North America (NA) events from concept through on-site execution, and post-event follow-up. This role is essential in delivering seamless, high-quality event experiences that align with D2L's mission to modernize education.
What You'll Do
- Lead the planning and execution of Fusion, D2L’s global annual user conference.
- Coordinate event logistics, production, content, creative, messaging, and technical requirements.
- Prepare and manage timelines, budgets, risks, purchase requests, and stakeholder communications.
- Liaise with and support speakers, sponsors, vendors, and event staff.
- Proactively troubleshoot issues during planning and onsite at events.
- Support event promotion, registration, engagement, and follow-up across channels.
- Maintain the event calendar and communicate outcomes and insights internally.
- Stay informed on the NA event landscape and emerging trends to continuously improve event impact.
Requirements
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience managing end-to-end in-person events.
- Strong project management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to think quickly under pressure, solve complex problems, and adapt in fast-paced environments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive cross-functional alignment and accountability.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and external partners.
- High attention to detail with strong follow-through.
- Self-motivated and outgoing individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
Nice to Have
- Writing or copywriting experience.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
- Flexibility to work irregular hours and travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
