About the Role

We're hiring a Full Stack Engineer to join our team at MyFriendBen. What You'll Do

• Build and maintain features across our React frontend and Python backend.
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to translate user needs into thoughtful, well-crafted software.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality standards.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape engineering best practices.
• Debug and improve the reliability and performance of existing systems.
• Work in a fast-paced, iterative environment with a strong bias for impact.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Solid experience with Python, including backend APIs and data processing.
• Comfort with relational databases and writing efficient queries.
• Experience with RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Strong debugging skills and a thoughtful approach to testing.
• Collaborative team player who communicates clearly and gives/receives feedback well.
• Passion for building technology that serves underrepresented communities is a big plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with government technology, benefits access, or civic tech.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG).
