Freelance Python Backend Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Wiselyst is seeking a Freelance Python Backend Engineer - Remote to join our dynamic team. As a key player in our IT consulting and software development company, you will help design and create digital experiences for major Italian and international companies. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while actively participating in digital transformation projects.

What You'll Do

• Develop enterprise applications with a focus on microservices and cloud architectures.
• Handle technical analysis, development, and API integration.
• Write automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Collaborate actively with the development team to enhance project outcomes.
• Utilize Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, and FastAPI in your development tasks.
• Work with RDBMS like Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Implement SOAP, REST, and WebSocket protocols for seamless integration.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Python Backend Engineer.
• Proficiency in Python with frameworks like Django, Flask, and FastAPI.
• Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Strong development and integration skills using SOAP, REST, and WebSocket protocols.
• Fluent in English and a resident of the EU.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of microservices architecture and messaging protocols (MQTT, AMQP, event-driven design).
• Exposure to Azure cloud services.
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools).

• Indicative rate of €280–€330/day based on experience, translating to an annual salary range of approximately €72,000 to €85,800.
