Founding Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are looking for a Founding Engineer to join our innovative team at Jelly. This is a unique opportunity to work remotely while building the operating system for the restaurants of the future. As a Founding Engineer remote, you will help automate the legacy industry, aiming to reduce manual labor to zero. What You'll Do

• Collaborate with a small, dynamic team to develop and enhance our core product, which powers over 400 independent restaurants.
• Utilize your deep understanding of Typescript for both front-end and back-end development.
• Design and implement software solutions using established software design patterns.
• Manage live production workloads in the cloud, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, design relational database schemas, and implement changes without downtime.
• Leverage the latest tools, including AI and computer vision, to transform restaurant workflows.
• Deliver high-quality software solutions within tight deadlines, turning messy problems into working software quickly.
• Engage in continuous improvement by sharing tools and techniques that enhance team productivity.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in shipping and maintaining production-level software.
• Strong proficiency in Typescript and backend development.
• Experience with cloud providers and managing production workloads.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and ability to write complex queries.
• Familiarity with AI and computer vision technologies.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the restaurant technology sector.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
• Previous experience in a startup environment.
