About the Role

We are seeking an Entry-Level Power Distribution Designer to join our dynamic team at Insight Global. This Power Distribution Designer remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading Engineering Consulting firm in the Charlotte area. You will play a crucial role in designing and redesigning power distribution layouts for a major Energy Supplier in the Carolinas, all under the guidance of our experienced engineering manager.

What You'll Do

  • Design and coordinate the maintenance, relocation, and new construction of the power grid.
  • Utilize design software such as SolidWorks, MicroStation, or AutoCAD to create detailed layouts.
  • Conduct fieldwork to gather necessary data for power distribution projects.
  • Oversee environmental compliance and submit applications for Right of Way Easements, DOT Encroachment, and Railroad & Transmission Permits.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals are met efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil/Industrial Engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Experience with design software (SolidWorks, MicroStation, AutoCAD).
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow within the company.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Fieldwork experience is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience as an AutoCAD drafter/technician in telecom, electrical, or utilities field.
  • Internship or Senior Capstone Project experience.
  • Duke Energy experience or Power Distribution knowledge.
  • Leadership experience in project settings.
  • Telecom design experience.
