Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer - Remote Opportunities

About the Role

GFT is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer - Geotechnical Designer to join our Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics Team in Ohio! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at either our Columbus or Cleveland, Ohio office. As an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer, you will contribute to innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Perform geotechnical calculations and designs for various projects, including shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and slope stability studies.
  • Assist in preparing written reports, geotechnical correspondence, and construction drawings.
  • Execute subsurface investigations and support geotechnical design efforts through data collection activities.
  • Provide specialty geo-construction observation during the construction phase of projects.
  • Travel as needed to other GFT offices or project work sites, including overnight travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • 0-4 years of geotechnical experience with a focus on subsurface exploration and design.
  • EIT or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of hire.
  • Experience with geotechnical software such as SLIDE, SLOPE/W, and gINT.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s Degree with a Geotechnical focus is preferred.
