Electrical Engineer for Medical Device Product Development - Remote
About the Role
Symmetrio is seeking an Electrical Engineer for Medical Device Product Development to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a vital role in the Functional Design team, focusing on the design, development, and optimization of analog and digital circuitry for advanced Nuclear Medicine products. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the full product lifecycle, from concept development to production release, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
What You'll Do
- Analyze product functional requirements and translate them into electrical, software, and interface specifications.
- Develop system concepts that integrate electronic components, firmware, and software to achieve performance objectives.
- Define and document key functional design specifications, including input and output parameters.
- Design and develop analog and digital circuits, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards.
- Collaborate with firmware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to create an integrated and optimized system design.
- Select and evaluate electronic components to meet design and reliability requirements.
- Perform simulations, schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, and validation testing.
- Lead and actively participate in design reviews, including schematic, PCB, firmware, and system evaluations.
- Conduct design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Perform tolerance analysis and risk assessments to enhance product reliability and safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and analysis, preferably within a structured, phase-gated product development process.
- Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including microcontroller-based systems.
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and failure analysis methodologies.
- Experience working closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing, and support teams to optimize designs and resolve technical challenges.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Knowledge of safety and EMC compliance standards for medical or industrial electronics is a plus.
- Self-directed, highly organized, and capable of leading technical projects with minimal supervision.
