Director of Credit and Underwriting - Equipment Finance Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Credit and Underwriting - Equipment Finance Remote to join Forbright Bank, a nationwide full-service bank dedicated to accelerating the transition to a sustainable and low-carbon economy. In this role, you will build and lead the credit function for our Equipment Finance platform, focusing on credit strategy, underwriting standards, and risk governance. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact while working remotely.

What You'll Do

• Build and lead the credit function for the Equipment Finance platform.
• Develop and implement credit philosophy and underwriting frameworks.
• Establish credit policies and guidelines in alignment with risk frameworks.
• Monitor macroeconomic trends and regulatory developments.
• Oversee underwriting activities and provide final credit approvals.
• Partner with Portfolio Management to monitor asset quality.
• Design scalable underwriting processes for growth.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on risk management and pricing strategies.
• Supervise syndication and origination personnel.
• Recruit and retain high-caliber professionals.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in commercial finance or equipment finance.
• 1+ year of management experience preferred.
• Extensive experience in equipment leasing and lending structures.
• Experience in regulated banking environments preferred.
• Deep expertise in credit underwriting and financial analysis.
• Strong knowledge of documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling tools.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
