Development Engineer - Product Quality (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Development Engineer - Product Quality (Remote) to join our dynamic team at VAT Group. In this role, you will serve as the technical and quality interface between our customers and internal teams, ensuring robust product performance and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. This position is perfect for someone with a strong engineering background and a passion for customer quality ownership.

What You'll Do

• Act as the primary technical expert, collaborating closely with GQM, KQM, FSE, and internal stakeholders.
• Lead customer complaint investigations utilizing structured methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and 8D.
• Ensure high-quality failure analysis reports are supported by strong technical justification.
• Drive fast response and effective containment actions to enhance customer confidence.
• Prepare and submit customer quality documentation, including FAI and inspection reports.
• Manage out-of-control situations effectively through well-defined OCAPs.
• Initiate internal technical quality improvement initiatives based on customer feedback.
• Participate in NPI and engineering change control processes to ensure compliance with customer specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 5–10+ years of experience in customer quality, product engineering, or industrialization within high-mix, precision manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with methodologies such as 8D, DFMEA, and SPC.
• Strong analytical and reliability-focused thinking.
• Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Mandarin and Malay is advantageous.

Nice to Have

• Strong knowledge of vacuum industry technology and semiconductor equipment.
• Experience with PLM/ECM systems and ERP tools.
• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or ASQ certifications.
