Deputy Manager - Retail Operations

About the Role

We are looking for a Deputy Manager to join our team at WHSmith, where you will play a crucial role in enhancing operational excellence and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This Deputy Manager remote position is pivotal in supporting the Store Manager in executing the business trading plan effectively.

What You'll Do

• Guide, engage, and support your team to achieve excellent standards and results aligned with the trading plan.
• Create a culture of learning and recognition, identifying opportunities for personal development and product knowledge enhancement.
• Ensure a safe and legally compliant operational environment while fostering a sense of pride within the store.
• Lead from the front, actively participating in team activities and supporting your colleagues on the shop floor.
• Build strong relationships and communicate clearly with all levels of seniority.
• Support employee training and development, motivating teams with an engaging approach.

Requirements

• Current or recent leadership experience in retail or a similar fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to lead proactively and support teams effectively.
• Flexibility to assist other stores in the area as needed.
• Strong relationship-building skills and clear communication abilities.
• Experience in employee training and development.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Average Transaction Value (ATV).
• Experience in a multi-store environment.
• Background in customer service excellence.
