Data Science Manager - Product Analytics (Remote)

About the Role

The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead the Product Analytics team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will guide a team of data scientists whose insights are pivotal in shaping strategies and tactics aimed at achieving our vision: a world where every individual can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. As a Data Science Manager - Product Analytics, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and colleagues across the Wikimedia movement to produce actionable and accessible data that informs decision-making within the Foundation and its communities.

What You'll Do

• Lead a team of approximately seven data scientists, ensuring timely delivery of accurate quantitative data and insights.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture of trust, excellence, and empowerment within your team.
• Mentor team members on critical thinking, data-informed storytelling, and technical skills.
• Partner with the Experiment Platform & Data Engineering teams to build and maintain data products that enhance accessibility of insights.
• Collaborate with product teams to cultivate a practice of data-informed product development and decision-making.
• Continuously develop and improve experimentation and measurement best practices, product health metrics, and visualizations for easier interpretation.

Requirements

• Deep experience with experimental design and statistics applied to internet-scale audience or user experience data.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment collaborating with product development teams to test, analyze, and evaluate user-facing features.
• Prior experience as a people manager, demonstrating a commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity.
• Familiarity with large-scale data processing and storage tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Presto, and Spark.
• Strong communication skills to convey findings and recommendations effectively to partner teams.
